Electric scooters!



Moving on an electric scooter is the most economical, alternative and greener way of transportation. Nowadays, electric scooters have established themselves in everyday life as there is a 40% annual increase of their demand. Their prices are extremely affordable and the payback period of the investment is very short, as the cost of transportation is almost zero.



The new companies which produce  affordable electric scooters thrive one after  another everywhere in the world, with emphasis in Asia where most of the production is absorbed from  its rapidly expanding market.  Today’s electric scooters have modern lines equipped with a telescopic fork, single shock absorber, two disc brakes and a dashboard with advanced electrical instruments. They are powered by a rechargeable battery that can be charged 100% from the home electrical network in 4-8 hours providing 60-70 km of autonomy. In terms of power, brushless DC electric motors of typical electric scooters range between 250W and 1500W, delivering an average speed of 25 km/hr  to 50 km/hr respectively, and their average price is about $1500. It is worth noting that there are also more powerful electric scooters in the market, which are even more expensive.

For models with a power from 250W to 1500W, full charging needs 6-8 hours to be completed and the average power consumption  is 1.3 kWh per 100 km, while for models with power from 2500W to 3500W, full charging takes place in 4-5 hours and the average power consumption is 1.9 kWh per 100 km. It should also be noted that the distance an electric scooter can cover depends also on factors such as the general state of the motorcycle, the way of charging the battery (full or partial), the way the rider is riding, driving in or out of town, total transport weight, ambient temperature, etc. Although the cost of transportation with an electric scooter is incomparably lower compared to any gasoline vehicle, there may be slight variations in the average cost of moving with electric scooters per 100 km.
